Self-care is a radical concept in our scarcity driven consumer culture. Radical things almost always require courage.

Self-care is creating a life that you want to live in; not run from. It’s also building a foundation upon which you can thrive and create an overflow to authentically love and serve your family, friends, community, ministry or whatever you’ve been neglecting or doing from a deficit.

I’m blessed to be working on a self-care campaign for young women. And this is what I’m finding across the board; they don’t make meaningful changes in their lives from the space of shame and despair. They make lasting change when they are empowered by hope and strength. And that’s their superpower.

The same goes for the not necessarily young women (like me) too.

What does a coach do? The good, the bad and the honest...

𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. It's also scary. Lately, it consumes me. I often think of my mother, my sister, my brother, and even my father. I find no relief in any of the circumstances that killed them. The devil is real. I miss each of them.
💔
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. Unfortunately there's no death without regret. I know I could have been a better sister and daughter.
💔
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. It's also weird. It comes and goes and is likely different than your own pain.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. Recently I've been obsessed with the New York Yankees. I mean, have you seen Aaron Judge?
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. For Melissa, I have a Yankee memorial tattoo on my neck that hurt like sin on a rampage. Fortunately, she is worthy of all the pain.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. I realize baseball is a worthy legacy. It's wholesome right? Whether The Yankees or some Bay Area team, there are worse things to pass along.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. I easily wear wigs. Maybe I'm not grounded in a certain identify? That's good and bad; you might not get to know me.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. Back to the Yankees. I was a kid enthralled by free hot dogs in a box suite at Yankees Stadium. I loved being there. It was family.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. I have tattoos for each of my family who died. Except my dad, I'm not there yet.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. It makes me share too much.
❤️
𝔾𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕗 𝕚𝕤 𝕔𝕣𝕒𝕫𝕪. I can take a wig off, but I still have to live with my hair underneath.

I am ANTI-New Year’s Resolution…

This past year has taught me to establish markers of success in the realm of mind, body, spirit and to move towards them.

SIDE NOTE: In order to determine markers of success, you have to understand what success looks like in your life and feels like in your body.

Movement: Mind, Body, Spirit.

We would love to help you start moving towards who you authentically want to be, how you want to feel, how you’d like to look (there’s no shame in that as long as it’s realistic and founded on health) and where you’d like to be.

2022 we see you! Even though we don’t know what you’ll bring, we aren’t going to wait to find out; we will be ready for anything.

In what area of your life are you meeting your own expectations of personal growth and development?

Are you meeting your fitness goals—exercise and nutrition? Weight loss?

Are you closer to your mental health and wellness initiatives? Self-care (including boundaries)?

Take an honest inventory? Hear me; it’s an inventory not an excuse to bash yourself. And when you’re ready, I’d love to support your efforts with Coaching. My coaching practice includes fitness, yoga, nutrition, holistic alignment, trauma/shame healing, and addiction recovery.

When we compare our problems and needs with the people we serve, they may look different, but at the end of the day, each and every one of us has battles.

And regardless of our outwardly circumstances, HOPE is the same. It's found in faith, in dignity, in non-judgment, in surrender, in kindness and in joy.

During Holy Week let's remember there are no problems too big or too small to leave at the foot of the cross. Likewise, there are no people too broken or too far gone for Jesus. He came, died, and rose for us all.
