Social Media Content by Me:
Where words fail us at times, our actions are the best way to demonstrate the principles of the Gospel; forgiveness, grace, and mercy.
If we tried to measure our success without including the human connections we have made, we would be doing a disservice to the Gospel, to our donors, and to our volunteers.
The practical side of connection is that we don’t get to ignore the despair and pain associated with the circumstances of being unhoused. Connection doesn’t allow us to choose our experience. Connection says that we are there for it all, even the things that make us uncomfortable.
Our friends on the streets, without houses, or in transitional housing, are the most vulnerable humans living in our neighborhoods.
It's estimated by social service experts in the field and faith leaders (When Helping Hurts) that it requires over 200 touch points to change a life. That equals consistent work, with integrity, over time.
Your donations of time and talent support meaningful touch points. And they have an immediate impact on the street. Because we are a small organization with little bureaucracy, we are able to move items on to the streets and in shelters (where they are needed the most) in a timely manner.

If the collective we could come to an agreement about serving the unhoused humans in our neighborhoods, we could serve them more intentionally.
If we could resolve questions about humanity, dignity, worthiness, and our individual roles in serving vulnerable communities, we could serve people more intentionally.
If we could agree that the very real circumstances that arise from being unhoused and marginalized are frequently greater than a person’s ability to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, we could serve people more intentionally.
Lives change with intention spent over time and there is no hope without dignity.
When I walked by someone's bed this morning in Midtown, I considered all the above, and I also thought, "There but for the grace of God go I…”
Instead of flowers and a fancy dinner, you can dedicate your resources to loving the people around you who need it the most.

City Net provides transitional tiny home shelter for men and women experiencing homelessness. They currently have two shelters where we serve: one on Florin Road and one on East Parkway.

This service opportunity is perfect for relational individuals comfortable interacting with people in transition. Our goal is simple: to support City Net residents and build a community that bridges transitional and stable housing. We believe fully engaged servant leaders will help us achieve this goal!
